Artist's Description
"One day I'll fly away" is part of my photo series "Nostalghia", a series of portraits expressing feelings. Feelings of forlornness and solitude. Julia in these photographs is like a mirror of my state of mind. I chose "Nostalghia" to make homage to the Russian film director Andrey Tarkovsky and his homonymous movie.
Capturing feelings to me always goes along with telling stories. Behind every strong feeling there is a story. As individual as the photographer shooting the picture, and as individual as the viewer, identifying with the feeling inherent to the portrait.
The title of this photo collage is taken from the soundtrack of the movie "Moulin Rouge", sung by the wonderful Nicole Kidman, playing the part of the tragic protagonist Satine. Heartbraking. Beautiful. Touching me deeply.
