Or "The End Of Freedom" - It took me some time to realize the meaning of this artwork, a one night's creation with three !? little red riding hoods on their way in Germany today...

This collage is a metaphor of the nowadays German society. It talks about the good will and charity, present dangers of ambushes and it talks about freedom, symbolized by the birds flying up and away. Individuality has disappeared in this scenery. All protagonists are looking uniform, in accordance with the groups, they are belonging to. Uniformity has taken over this society, that has split into the good ones, the bad ones ("the bright and the dark Germany" how used to say our former president) and a third group, I would call the free spirits. They are in motion and trying to leave this land, before night comes.
"Happily ever after" is a nightmare, the wolves eyes in the dark are not only symbolising danger to death, but also permanent surveillance. This artwork is showing a totalitarian system,...

Martina Rall

Artist & Photographer ■ Born in Germany, Martina Rall studied Italian and German literature as well as linguistics at the Universities of Tübingen and Parma/Italy (M.A.), and later on Fine Arts at the Academy of Arts in Nürtingen. She worked first as a graphic designer before she devoted herself to her artistic career. In Art she focuses on a mixed media series of Icon Self Portraits "Being Marilyn Monroe" and a photo series about "Artists in Action", portraying European artists from various fields at work, to explore the creative process and the fascination of art.
